As you walk into the gym there are many pieces of equipment that may be confusing but there are definitely some that are more intimidating than others, and the cable crossover machine is one of those. This piece of equipment comes in different variations but the basic premise is the same. Once you get past the intimidating aspect of this machine, you can really dig into its effectiveness and versatility. This machine can hit every muscle group and uses physics to maximize results. Cables vary from regular machines that have a set range of motion or free weight dumbbell and barbell exercises. Those pieces of equipment challenge your muscle differently and are more difficult on your joints as to how they are loaded.
The cable crossover machine works by making the hardest point of resistance in the range of motion being when the limb that is moving and the cable create a 90 angle, also known as the T position. When you understand this you can change the height of the pulley, where your body is positioned or bring in a bench etc to manipulate how your muscles are feeling each contraction. This is a great tool to continually challenge your muscle so you can achieve the particular goal you have set out.
Here are some benefits to training with a cable crossover machine:
💪 It can be adjusted to accommodate any injury you may be dealing with.
💪 Forces your muscles to help stabilize throughout the range of motion.
💪 A smooth and not jerky range of motion throughout the exercise.
💪 Many different varieties of exercises that you can switch from oine to the other quickly and change handle attachments etc.
