Exercise of the week - Pool workouts

Mix things up with a great pool workout that will challenge you in different ways then you are used to!!! Are you feeling tired and bored of your regular fitness routine? Try a pool workout that will work you hard and give you great results. When you plateau or become bored of the weight room or whatever activity you are used to doing on a regular basis then a pool workout is a great way to give your mind a break and still challenge your body physically. We call this active rest. By treading water, doing laps, squat jumps and many other fun and exciting exercises in the pool you can achieve your goals and have fun at the same time. As a plus you can stay cool while working out. The water acts as a resistance force against your muscles that gives the same resistance back that you give against it, this is called isokinetic resistance. It is great for the muscle and tendons but more importantly it is low impact on your joints and can be used for rehab therapy in some cases. So grab your swim suit and dive right in!! You won't regret it!!
